Lebanon County LINK to Aging and Disability Resources has gathered together seven useful falls prevention resources for Older American's Month, which takes place every year during the month of May.
Some of resources featured include:
STEADI (Stopping Elderly Accidents, Deaths and Injuries) toolkit for healthcare providers
A toolkit created by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, which includes background information on falls for professionals, case studies, validated risk assessment tools, referral forms and patient information leaflets in both English and Spanish.
Tai Chi: moving for better balance
The programme includes 24 Tai Chi forms that emphasize weight shifting, postural alignment, and coordinated movements.
Stepping On
An educational programme designed for people who are living at home and who have fallen or are fearful of falling which covers a range of topics, including vision, home hazards, medicines and practical exercises to improve strength and balance.
Otago Home Exercise Programme
A home-based, individually tailored strength and balance retraining programme.
Fallscape Program
FallScape uses each individual's unique mobility, environment and functional status to create personalized interactive multimedia training sessions and evaluations. It utilises easy-to-use software to provide customised falls prevention programmes in any setting and includes a standardized behavioural intervention called FallsTalk.
