HC-UK Falls Prevention and Management in Older PeopleThe conference opens with an update from the National Falls and Fractures Alliance on meeting the health improvement objective relating to falls in the NHS Outcomes Framework 2013-16. The conference continues with an in-depth focus on meeting the updated 2013 NICE Clinical Practice Guideline on Falls within falls and inpatient services including a focus on risk prediction and effective interventions to reduce the risk and severity of falls in hospitals. 26% of all patient safety incident reports from Oct 2011 to March 2012 were slips, trips and falls. The conference will also take a proactive approach to engaging older people in staying healthy falls prevention exercise. The afternoon will continue with case studies focusing on secondary prevention, managing falls, frailty and comorbidity, falls and mental health and managing falls and fractures in care homes. Through expert speakers and best practice case studies the conference aims to give you practical tools and ideas to improve falls prevention and management in your local practice and organisation.
