ProFaNE used to be free – why do I have to pay?

The original profane.eu.org site was funded by an EC project and other generous benefactors, but this funding came to an end. Rather than see the community end completely, Dawn Skelton and myself started this new ProFaNE Community Online.

Providing web sites and producing content is not free. In order for the profane.co community to continue and for us to keep you informed with updates in Falls Prevention we need to raise funds to cover these activities. We have thought about ths very carefully and all we ask is that once a year you buy Dawn and I lunch i.e. subscribe for just £12 a year. We think this represents excellent value for money.

Thanks to everyone who has registered so far, we are making this work and are on track to sustainability. In return for your commitment, we promised to continue to invest in and develop the site, so we have recently re-introduced completely new versions of some original ProFaNE Community features like profiles and the discussion board; smarter, cleaner, more powerful and easier to use, but with the same ProFaNE community spirit. With your help we can do even more.

We also support the ProFaNE community with ‘gentle’ advertising (we hate the annoying flashing banners too). All adverts are clearly marked as such and will always be relevant to Falls Prevention. If you have a product or service you would like to advertise (at very reasonable rates) please contact Steve.

One final note so there is no confusion, when you click the PayNow link, you will be taken to PayPal to make a payment to Crashed Inventors – this is correct. Crashed Inventors is my website, I need to update it (as always!), but you can see some of my other work there – where does the name come from? It’s an anagram of my name, Steven Richardson. I couldn’t think of anything better at the time and it’s stuck, everyone seems to remember it and I think this is probably a good thing overall.

PayPal is the safest way to pay online and our systems utilise the security features offered by PayPal, but don’t forget the usual safety rules, never enter your security details unless you are 100% sure you are on the PayPal website.
