New falls prevention funding opportunities have been announced by the Administration for Community Living (ACL), a branch of the Federal Department of Health and Human Services.
The goal of the funding, is to “increase the number of older adults...and adults with disabilities at risk for falls who participate in evidence-based community programs to reduce falls and falls risk”.
The Option 1 state grant awards will support approximately 8-10 grants to domestic public or private non-profit entities averaging about $400,000 per award for a two-year forward funded project period.
The Option 2 tribal grant awards will support approximately five grants to Federally Recognized Tribes and Tribal Organizations up to $100,000 per award for a two-year forward funded project period.
This funding opportunity is designed to increase the number of older adults, American Indian, Alaskan Native and Native Hawaiian elders, and adults with disabilities at risk for falls who participate in evidence-based community programs to reduce falls and falls risk, while concurrently increasing the sustainability of these programs through innovative funding arrangements.
