Following on from the falls and bone health audit of 2010, this research looks at the provision of falls prevention exercise services from a very important, and often overlooked, perspective - that of the older person.
The findings confirm what has long been known about service provision, and highlight some of the common shortcomings in current provision and practice. Many programmes are still too short in duration to be considered evidence-based, and fail to offer suitable progression or follow-on classes. Patient satisfaction levels, and the demand for greater availability for long-term exercise services for falls prevention among older people, however, are high.
